<p><em>Whitespace</em> is one or more blanks or tabs, in any order.
Whitespace is used to separate symbols, and to make programs neater for
people to read.  Unless within character constants
(see <a href="Characters.html#Characters">Character Constants</a>), any whitespace means the same
as exactly one space.
