  58. <p>GCC is distributed via <a href="http://gcc.gnu.org/git.html">git</a> and via
  59. HTTPS as tarballs compressed with <code>gzip</code> or <code>bzip2</code>.
  60. </p>
  61. <p>Please refer to the <a href="http://gcc.gnu.org/releases.html">releases web page</a>
  62. for information on how to obtain GCC.
  63. </p>
  64. <p>The source distribution includes the C, C++, Objective-C, Fortran,
  65. and Ada (in the case of GCC 3.1 and later) compilers, as well as
  66. runtime libraries for C++, Objective-C, and Fortran.
  67. For previous versions these were downloadable as separate components such
  68. as the core GCC distribution, which included the C language front end and
  69. shared components, and language-specific distributions including the
  70. language front end and the language runtime (where appropriate).
  71. </p>
  72. <p>If you also intend to build binutils (either to upgrade an existing
  73. installation or for use in place of the corresponding tools of your
  74. OS), unpack the binutils distribution either in the same directory or
  75. a separate one. In the latter case, add symbolic links to any
  76. components of the binutils you intend to build alongside the compiler
  77. (<samp>bfd</samp>, <samp>binutils</samp>, <samp>gas</samp>, <samp>gprof</samp>, <samp>ld</samp>,
  78. <samp>opcodes</samp>, &hellip;) to the directory containing the GCC sources.
  79. </p>
  80. <p>Likewise the GMP, MPFR and MPC libraries can be automatically built
  81. together with GCC. You may simply run the
  82. <code>contrib/download_prerequisites</code> script in the GCC source directory
  83. to set up everything.
  84. Otherwise unpack the GMP, MPFR and/or MPC source
  85. distributions in the directory containing the GCC sources and rename
  86. their directories to <samp>gmp</samp>, <samp>mpfr</samp> and <samp>mpc</samp>,
  87. respectively (or use symbolic links with the same name).
