  65. <p>The above table describes the most basic keystrokes that you need
  66. in order to do editing of the input line. For your convenience, many
  67. other commands have been added in addition to <kbd>C-b</kbd>, <kbd>C-f</kbd>,
  68. <kbd>C-d</kbd>, and <tt class="key">DEL</tt>. Here are some commands for moving more rapidly
  69. about the line.

  73. <dd><p>Move to the start of the line.

  76. <dd><p>Move to the end of the line.
  77. </p></dd>
  78. <dt><kbd>M-f</kbd></dt>
  79. <dd><p>Move forward a word, where a word is composed of letters and digits.
  80. </p></dd>
  81. <dt><kbd>M-b</kbd></dt>
  82. <dd><p>Move backward a word.

  84. <dt><kbd>C-l</kbd></dt>
  85. <dd><p>Clear the screen, reprinting the current line at the top.
  86. </p></dd>
  87. </dl>
  88. <p>Notice how <kbd>C-f</kbd> moves forward a character, while <kbd>M-f</kbd> moves
  89. forward a word. It is a loose convention that control keystrokes
  90. operate on characters while meta keystrokes operate on words.
