  78. <p>Users of <small>GDB</small> often wish to obtain information about the state of

  79. the operating system running on the target&mdash;for example the list of

  80. processes, or the list of open files.  This section describes the

  81. mechanism that makes it possible.  This mechanism is similar to the 

  82. target features mechanism (see <a href="Target-Descriptions.html#Target-Descriptions">Target Descriptions</a>), but focuses

  83. on a different aspect of target.
